Glorious weather and beautiful scenery were the accompaniment for Mulbarton Junior School's largest-ever cricket tournament organised in partnership with the youth section of Mulbarton Cricket Club.

Over 90 Year 5/6 children took part in the seventh annual event on Orchard Park, and what a day they all had.

Eight teams competed in a league format in the morning before the winners of the groups faced up to each other in the afternoon.

The final proved to be an exciting and nail-biting affair with just a solitary run separating the two teams at the end of the day.

Ex-Mulbarton Middle School pupils from the cricket club were on hand to officiate and umpire all of the 16 games that were played over the course of the competition, making this a truly community event. Mulbarton Junior School continues to promote the national summer game and this term offered all of its pupils the opportunity to experience the fun of cricket and to encourage consideration and support for others.

The winner of the day was the cricket and the children themselves, who played the game in exactly the right spirit encouraging and cheering others right up until the final ball of

the day.
