Connaught win first leg

CONNAUGHT Bowls Club, Attleborough, saw their A-side win their home leg of the short mat Norwich Cup Final by beating Hempnall 15-9 (70-58 on shots).Scores: R Wells, D Adcock and S Parsons 6-6, 2-7 and 5-7; S Bragg, C Musk and G Wilcox 9-1, 3-11 and 7-6; L Fallows, O Allen and W Adcock 10-3, 9-1 and 5-3; K Beavers, P Hambling and J Winup 3-5, 5-4 and 6-4.

For Connaught, Lee Fallows skipped Ollie Allen and Bill Adcock to three excellent wins in an evening of tense but high quality bowling. Connaught A had a good start but faltered a little until leading by just 9-7.

Three wins in the last four matches then helped give them a handy 15-9 margin going into the away leg at Hempnall on Easter Monday, 7.15pm start.

However, that lead certainly is not conclusive and both sides still have everything to play for.

Connaught B avoided bottom slot in the Breckland League, level on points with Harling Rec but with a better shots difference.
