Students from Wymondham and Dereham's Kuk Sool Won Korean Martial Art Schools took part in the recent European tournament and enjoyed very good results both individually and as a team.

The tournament, which was over two days, attracted 700 competitors from across Europe and was topped off with a superb masters display in the evening. Students ranging from six years old to early 50s attended and competed.

There were some notable successes especially in the white belt class.

Paul Bunting in his first European competition took medals in each of the three events he entered in his adult class. Paul won bronze in empty hand forms and bronze techniques but saved the best for last. He fought through to the final and won his adult white belt sparring competition, taking the prestigious gold medal for first place.

Instructor Chris Winter 4th Dan said: “This is an excellent result for Paul and reflects his hard work in the Kuk Sool School since he joined us.”

The students are now training hard for the UKChampionships in Birmingham in November.

Beginner lessons are on Fridays in Wymondham at the leisure centre. Classes start at 7pm for U15s and 8pm for over 15s. Call Chris on 01603 881376 for more information.
