Bowls: Mixed fortunes for Connaught

PUBLISHED: 11:49 21 June 2012

Connaught have had a busy two weeks of mixed fortunes. The men’s EBA A side, in South 2, had a rather shaky win by 68-64 and 3½ to 1½ at home to Diss B followed by a more solid win at Wymondham Dell B by 69-48 and 4-1. The men’s EBA B side, also in South 2, lost at Wortwell by 47-86 and 0-5 and at home to Norfolk CC by 47-85 and 0-5. The side is introducing several players new to league bowls and inexperience is showing as concentration slips in the second half of matches. In the Breckland League Connaught Ladies won by 57-41 and 8-0 at home to Aldiss Park. In the Top Club Connaught Ladies lost at home to County Arts by seven shots, winning the singles and pairs but losing the triples and fours. In the Webb Cup Connaught Ladies lost to Wymondham Dell, the home four by seven shots and the away four by four. In the mixed rinks Jermy Cup Connaught won one and lost two of the rinks at Diss, losing 39-68.
