ATTLEBOROUGH started well against Mundford, but by the final whistle were left with nothing to show for their efforts.

Matty Venables and Jay Webb were combining well on the left and giving their opponents plenty to worry about.

On the right David Greenwood was finding space and linking well with Phil King and Timmy Jeckell in the front line.

When Mundford did attack, Cev Edwards and Shaun Waterson were looking solid and immovable. There was little surprise when Boro took the lead. Timmy Jeckell threaded a ball through to Matty Venables on the wing.

Venables won his tussle with the Mundford defender and slid an inch-perfect pass across the face of the goal to David Greenwood, who had the simple task of placing the ball into the back of the unguarded net.

Jeckell was disappointed to see his long-range effort gathered by the keeper at the second attempt.

Chances were now coming thick and fast. Greenwood was unlucky to see a diving header go wide and the Mundford keeper had to be alert to the ever-present danger from Webb and Venables.

Boro were made to rue the unclaimed chances as Mundford grabbed an equaliser.

The second half proved to be a non-event for Attleborough with the only attacking moment of note being a chance for Olly Ramsbottom.

At the other end Barry Wells was proving to be the difference between the teams. He pulled off a series of fine saves, and when he was beaten watched gratefully as the ball ricocheted to safety off the bar. However, even the inspired Wells was unable to prevent Mundford scoring.

Boro were faced with some robust defending when they did enter the final third of the pitch. A third goal followed after 80 minutes and a somewhat flattering fourth in added time.
