It could be a make or break weekend for Hethersett when the top two in the Eastern Region Women's League Premier Division clash.

Leaders Hethersett play host to Norwich City Ladies on Sunday (2pm) in a revised fixture and the result could go a long way to deciding who will win promotion to the third national tier of women's football.

Hethersett are currently 10 points ahead of Norwich but the city team have four games in hand. A win would put Hethersett a massive 13 points clear.

Co-manager Tom Parke is aware of the enormity of the task: “At the beginning of the season our aim was to finish in the top three in what is our first season at this level. Anything above that is a bonus. We are certainly not under-estimating the task ahead of us on Sunday.

“Norwich have a great array of talent and at the start of the season must have been strong favourites to win the league. We are still finding our feet at this level and what we have already achieved is quite phenomenal for a village team.”

Hethersett are the only team to have beaten Norwich this season, 1-0.

Hethersett Ladies' dreams of a league and cup double are still alive following a 3-0 victory over an uncompromising Woodbridge team in the quarter-finals of the Eastern Region League Cup.

It was a game that never hit the heights, but which produced a competent performance from a Hethersett side which once again proved the importance of having a strong defence and midfield and fast marauding forwards.

Nikki Wigg was at the heart of a move that saw the Woodbridge keeper paw her shot over for a corner. Kelly Gray's kick was inch perfect as Wigg rose above a static defence to head home.

After the break Bray burst through only to be hauled over and Nicola Stolworthy converted the resultant penalty.

Hethersett wrapped the tie up when Bray again sprang the offside trap and fired against a post. A Woodbridge defender made a mess of clearing the ball and only succeeded in turning it into her own net.
