THE race for the Eastern Region Women's League Premier Division title looks likely to go to the final matches of the season with Hethersett and Norwich City Ladies both winning at the weekend.

Hethersett produced another good performance in what could have been a tough away game at Peterborough, winning 3-0. Goals from Kelly Gray, Emily Coates and Sophie Fuller gave them the points.

Norwich beat lowly Royston and are now just five points behind Hethersett, with two games in hand.

Hethersett have two away games to come - against Cambridge United on May 11 and Royston on May 18.

Victory in those games will mean that Norwich City will have to win their remaining four fixtures if they are to pip Hethersett for the title.

Hethersett turn their attention away from league action over the next couple of weeks as they prepare for their League Cup final against Barking on April 27.

The match is the top attraction of a three-match Eastern Region League final programme at Soham Rangers FC (3pm kick-off).

Barking are surprise opponents for Hethersett, having knocked Norwich City out at the semi-finals stage.

Hethersett will be favourites to lift the trophy, having already beaten Barking twice in the league, but they will be guarding against complacency in their build-up to the big game.
