Abi Martins who lives in Wymondham and goes to Wymondham High School has broken a county record.

Abi who competes for both the City of Norwich Athletics Club and Norfolk broke the U17 county record at Watford with a height of 2.75m which breaks the record which was previously set at 2.7m way back in May 1996.

Her dad Tim said: 'This is Abi's first year as an U17 and at only 15 she hopes to extend the record much further.

'Indeed the senior women's county record is 2.9m so Abi has now got that firmly in her sights,

'Abi is particularly satisfied with this achievment because this is her first season as an U17 as she has just moved from the U15 age group where she was also the county record holder, so was hoping to just establish herself in her new age group and she was also hampered by a niggling injury at the start of the season.'

He added Abi 'would like to say a big thank you to her coach Clive Baker who coaches her at both the UEA and at King's Lynn.'
