She is one of the fastest girls on four wheels. And Louise Richardson will raise the profile of a cancer charity when she begins her career with a south Norfolk motor racing team next month.
For, when Louise whizzes around Britain's premier circuits in her debut season in the Ginetta Junior Championship, she will be spreading the word about the work of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Her two-seater G20 sports car will be plastered with logos for the charity, thanks to the sponsorship of Ginetta cars.
Louise, who will be 16 soon, was signed up by TJ Motorsport, based at Besthorpe, after excell-ing in a Kartmasters go-karting event last year and winning a Ginetta junior scholarship.
Trevor Griffiths, who has been running TJ Motorsport for the past 12 years, said this week that his new driver's car would be the only one with the charity's livery when the Ginetta Junior Championship started at Brands Hatch on April 4 as a support series to the British Touring Car Championships.
The trust wants to build a new �2m, 10-bed unit at Adden-brooke's Hospital, Cambridge, to treat young cancer patients from across East Anglia.
Louise, one of three girls to be competing in the championship for 14 to 16-year-olds, said she was looking forward to proving her worth as a racing driver and helping a good cause at the same time. "I think it is a great idea to get people familiar with charities and the work they do, and, seeing as it will be televised on ITV and Sky Sports, it will give the Teenage Cancer Trust a lot of publicity," she said.
Mr Griffiths said TJ Motorsport had a strong line-up for this year's junior championship, with Dereham driver Tom Howard and teenager Jake Cook making up the three-car squad.
The Ginetta Junior Champ-ionship is seen as the first stepping stone for potential F1 and touring car champions.
