A pipework specialist based in Wymondham has said it is looking to expand into new energy markets after achieving a new national accreditation.

Pruce Newman business development manager Paris Johnston said: 'You have only to see the amount of pipework at somewhere such as Bacton gas terminal to realise how relevant our products are to the sector.

'We believe that as a quality focused, service-based, local family firm, that we can add something to the marketplace and incorporate energy sector activities into our future.'

The company, which has a 9,000sq ft fabrication workshop in Wymondham, has worked in the engineering construction industry for 43 years and specialises in the fabrication and installation of pipework in stainless, mild, galvanised and coated steels, plastics and copper.

However it now plans to further develop into the oil and gas and conventional energy markets, as well as the emerging biomass and biogas alternative energy markets.

Its latest accreditation, an ISO 14001 registration certificate for environment management systems, 'is a symbol of our commitment to ensure that the management of the business meets all the stringent requirements of the various energy industries', said managing director Graham Newman.

'We are also shortly expecting to add ISO 1090 and ISO 3834 certification, for fabrication and welding and structural steelwork production, to further add to our qualified proficiencies,' he added.

Mr Johnston added that the company had recently grown into a £10m turnover operation, employing around 100 people at its Wymondham head office and branch office in Wickford, Essex.

'Over our long trading history, we've set a standard for quality, safety and service, which has brought us blue chip customers such as British Sugar, DOW Chemicals, Unilever, Briar Chemicals and Colmans,' he added.

'Now we want to take that experience into the energy industry, where we have recognised many regional and national opportunities.'
