A public meeting is set to take place in Wymondham next week regarding South Norfolk Council's gipsy and traveller site consultation.

Residents will be able to ask questions about the council's proposals to find 20 new pitches in the district along the A11, A47 and A143 corridors.

The meeting at Wymondham Central Hall on Wednesday April 29 has been organised at the request of the town council and will take place between 7.30pm and 9pm.

Ronnie Hoare, chairman of South Norfolk Council's gipsy and traveller working group, said the meeting would give local people a chance to question councillors and staff about the consultation, which ends on May 5.

Potential sites have been identified at land in Station Road, Spooner Row, Chepore Lane, Suton, and land west of Stanfield oil depot, near Wymondham.

'Organised sites for gipsies and travellers should be beneficial to all who live in the South Norfolk community rather than the unauthorised and unpredictable sites that can suddenly spring up,' he said.
