A man has been transported to hospital after emergency services were called to an accident on the A47 during rush hour on Monday morning.

The accident took place at Postwick near the Witton Green turn-off with the fire service receiving a call at 7.46am to attend.

Norfolk Police received a call at 7.44am to reports of a Honda Civic coming off the road.

A spokeswoman for the police said the car ended up in a field 15 yards from the road.

The man had been reporting back pain at the time and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further care.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: "We were called at 7.37am with reports of a collision on the A47 Yarmouth Road, Postwick.

"We sent an ambulance, ambulance officer and East Anglian Air Ambulance.

"One person was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further care."

Fire crews from Carrow, North Earlham and Sprowston attended the scene.

Traffic has been coping well according to AA Roadwatch.
