But Wymondham High School students came up trumps, selling 200 with just days to go, and turned a potential disaster into a triumph.
Organised by the sixth form fashion committee, the event raised more than 450 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The group of 16 and 17-year-old students meet every Friday morning and discuss how they can help charities through fashion.

Spokesman Helen Wilkinson said they wanted to help raise the profile of The Teenage Cancer Trust, as cancer is an illness that affects young people as well as adults. Some of the committee also had family members whose lives have been affected by the disease.
'We started the fashion committee in September, so it has only been going about five months. We were a bit concerned that we couldn't sell the tickets, but in the end we managed to sell over 200. A lot of people also bought on the door so there was a high attendance. It was really great,' she said.

Teacher Jillian Chadwick said the event was well supported by other teenagers, and there was a wonderful atmosphere. She added:
'Our students have worked so hard to pull this off. They did a video on the night and a slide show behind the catwalk. They have achieved their aim which was to raise public awareness.'
