Plans to build a private retirement development at Attleborough were unveiled at a public exhibition on Monday.

Visitors had the opportunity to meet representatives from McCarthy & Stone - the company that is proposing to site the development on land at 25 Queens Road - and ask questions about the proposed scheme.

Andrew Oliver, the firm's regional managing director, said: “We are always keen to ensure the local community has an opportunity to view our proposals and comment on these before the submission of a planning application.”

The proposals are for a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments tailored to older people's needs. On site facilities would include a 24-hour personal emergency service, a house manager, central lounge for social events and a guest suite.

McCarthy & Stone provides about two thirds of Britain's private retirement properties and has won numerous awards for its developments.
