It was a proud moment for young Rebekah Devlin when she presented a cheque for £2,094.44 to the Jenny Lind children's department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

The event was organised by her parents, Tina and Andrew Devlin of Kimberley, as a thank-you for the care their eight-year-old daughter has received since she was diagnosed with absence epilepsy earlier this year.

Mrs Devlin said: “The money was raised by the sponsored dog walk held at Whitlingham country park on September 14 and run by my dog training club, K9 Capers.

“Everyone was so generous with taking part, sponsoring people or even just some donations sent in by post. We have been told by the ward sister that this money will be used to supply the children with those extras, like toys, that will make the whole process of treatment a little less stressful.”

She added: “The walk was such a wonderful success we are planning another one next year.”
