Attleborough High School rocked on Friday when one of the best up-and-coming bands in the country came to play a special show. The Oli Brown Band has been getting rave reviews from music press and has toured regularly since forming two years ago.

When the offer came for the band to play at Attleborough High, head of music Jane Berridge, jumped at it. “I was very glad to have the opportunity to have them here - the students really benefit from experiencing a diverse range of musical influences in live performance at this school.”

Students who study music at Attleborough High School all had the opportunity to be in the audience and enjoy the dynamic and skilled performance. Playing a selection of tracks from their Open Road debut album, they entertained the packed main hall, students clapping, dancing and swaying along.

Having played in Europe and America, Oli, along with drummer Simon Dring and bass player Fred Hollis contacted various schools in the region with the offer to do some free concerts. This idea stemmed from the band playing at Oli's old school in Norfolk.

He said: “We had a great time playing there in my old school hall and the response was really positive. It was a terrific experience and things went so well we decided to do a few more. It also gives students to experience some live music and maybe a style they haven't really heard much before”.
