CHILDREN from a south Norfolk school were runners-up in a national cookery competition to create an original recipe. The children from Carleton Rode Primary School devised their recipe - sesame coated tuna burgers with fresh tomato salsa - as part of a competition by Cans in the Classroom, the free cookery education programme launched by Canned Food UK.

The children from Carleton Rode Primary School devised their recipe - sesame coated tuna burgers with fresh tomato salsa - as part of a competition by Cans in the Classroom, the free cookery education programme launched by Canned Food UK.
Using at least one canned food, the children had to come up with a tasty dish they would serve to celebrity chef James Martin. The youngsters have been awarded a Cookit box, including mixing bowls, scales, baking equipment and tray, to use at their school.
The Cans in the Classroom programme, developed in partnership with food education trust Focus on Food, has given teachers the opportunity to teach children about nutrition, cooking and the benefits of canned food.
