A bid to build 10 new houses in Attleborough has been granted permission.

The development by Breckland Bridge, which will be built on a vacant site at the junction of Chapel Road and Cyprus Road, is due to get under way next summer.

It will comprise of two and three-bedroom terraced houses, as well as two detached houses.

Chapel Road Primary School, which is next to the site, is due to relocate to a new site four miles away in Old Buckenham before building begins.

Breckland Bridge, which is a joint venture partnership between Breckland Council and The Land Group, has ensured the scheme will preserve a popular chestnut tree on the site.

Councillor Adrian Stasiak said: “This new development will help meet growing demand for homes in our district and potentially enable people who have grown up in or around Attleborough to stay in the town that they call home.”
