TWO mental health nurses from Wymondham have taken up the challenge of the London Marathon for a children's cancer charity.

Kirsty Daynes and Caroline Carr have worked together for the last six years and are now putting the finishing touches to their training programme for the big day in April.

They are running for the Lisa Thaxter Trust which supports children and adolescents suffering from cancer. The Surrey-based charity was set up in 1993 and the two runners are supporting it because Lisa was a relative of their aerobics teacher who is unable to run this year.

Kirsty, 30, and Caroline, 34, have completed the 5km Race for Life and have stepped up from there. The furthest they have run is the Norwich half-marathon about three years ago so they have been adding miles to their training.

They are members of Wymondham Running Club and train about three times a week with a long run on Sundays.
