Wymondham Ladies faced second-placed Kings Lynn Ladies in a top of the table clash in the Eastern Region Division One, knowing a win would crown them champions.

Wymondham were unbeaten in the league all season, having scored 76 goals and conceded only nine in 14 league games before this fixture and they had the champagne on ice.

And true to form, Wymondham came out winners, scoring seven without reply.

After an even start to the game, Wymondham found their stride and opened the scoring on 13 minutes after a quick combination in the opposition third ended in Town's top scorer Laura Nicholls finding the net.

Wymondham proceeded to dominate and they ended Lynn's chances of getting back in the game after scoring an incredible five goals in the space of just 18 minutes to lead 6-0 at half-time, thanks to Kayleigh Holloway, Mollie O'Callaghan and Hannah Waters, with two.

Wymondham made changes for the second half, but continued to be the team on top, adding to their lead with a goal from distance through Brooke Cheal. Laura Nicholls had chances to grab her hat-trick, but was prevented by a goalline clearance and the outside of the post.

The win and three points secured the league and promotion, with the Ladies finishing as champions with their highest ever league finish.

With the league wrapped up, Wymondham now look forward to the Norfolk Women's County Cup final on Friday April 27, at the FDC (7.30pm).

In the Norfolk Women and Girls' League Division One, Bungay Town Ladies beat winless Long Stratton Ladies 9-0, while North Walsham and Stalham drew 2-2 and Sprowston beat Wymondham Reserves 3-2 on penalties after their match had ended 1-1.

Bungay took an early lead through Sam Walker, with Emily Leach soon adding a second. Walker made it 3-0 at the break. Leach completed her hat-trick, while Selina Rowland and Lauren Purling both scored two.

In Division Two, leaders FC Sprowston were 6-1 winners at Tavern Ladies, while Freethorpe Ladies drew 3-3 with Bure Valley Wildcats. In the 7-a-side league, Morley lost 3-1 at home to Costessey Sports.
