A teenager from Wymondham has been crowded Miss Junior Teen Norfolk 2018 and guaranteed her spot in the final of Junior Teen Great Britain.
Lauren Newton, 15, saw off hundreds of teens from across Norfolk to gain her place in the final.
She said: “I am so overwhelmed to have made it to the final, it is a dream come true. I’m so excited to be working with so many incredible people.”
“Fingers crossed I will be able to win the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain crown.”
Teenagers aged between 13 and 15 from across Great Britain will compete for the crown with the winner walking away with prizes including - £500, dresses from The Dress Studio and a sparkling sash and crown.
The grand final will be held on October 21 at The Globe in Blackpool.
The weekend of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain is set to be full of fun, with the finalists enjoying a beauty queen challenge day, a pyjama diva party at the Village Hotel.
Lauren said: “It will be nerve-racking. I’m excited too because you get to meet so many new people from all over the UK. The day before the actually pageant you get to do group work and get to know each other.”
All the finalists are invited to raise funds and awareness in the lead up to the national final for children’s charity Together For Short Lives.
Lauren is holding a bake sale, sponsored walk, attending children’s parties to help with make up and nails, as well as setting up a fundraising page, with a target of £700.
She said: “You have to represent what the pageant is through appearances and working on charity projects. That builds up and gives you more points to win to title.”
Miss Teen Great Britain was started in 2011 by Holly Pirrie who says the contests were created to be a positive and confidence-building experience for young girls and teenagers. An interview section counts for 50pc of the total score.
Lauren added: “A lot of people just assume pageants are about appearance and that all the girls are horrible and are just out to win or show off, but actually it is about much more than that. It’s not about whether you’ve got perfect skin or what size you are, it is about meeting new people and having new experiences. It has boosted my confidence a lot.”
