Norfolk police have launched an investigation into the unexplained death of a 16-year-old boy.

Officers were called out to the small village of Coston, between Dereham and Wymondham, this afternoon (Thursday) at 3.30pm.

Firefighters from Hingham, Wymondham, members of Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service's Urban Search and Rescue Team, the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) and paramedics were also alerted to the scene.

DS Chris Burgess, from Great Yarmouth CID, said this evening: 'We are investigating an unexplained death of a 16-year-old boy.

'It is not being treated as suspicious at this stage, however we will be continuing our inquiries and the family have been informed.'

Police were still in the small village after 7pm and officers stood at the end of a private road.

One neighbour said he heard sirens and saw the EAAA helicopter at about 4.30pm,

Another resident, who did not want to be named, said he saw the emergency service vehicles while he was returning from the Norfolk Showground.

He added there were two fire engines, two police cars and two ambulance service vehicles when he arrived in the village.
