A Norfolk community centre's roof repair fundraising campaign has raised its first £1,000.
North Wymondham Community Centre is aiming to raise £20,000 to fix its damaged roof.
The sum was raised through fundraising events organised by the committee and was bolstered by donations from a Wymondham-based business and individuals living in the area.
The charity-owned and maintained building in Lime Tree Avenue, Wymondham, relies almost entirely on hire income to cover the £6,000 annual running costs. As such, the need to find an additional £20,000 in a relatively short time is a major challenge for the small group of trustees and supporting volunteers.
A spokesperson for the charity said they were hoping to build on the success of their fundraising efforts with a Chocolate Fest in the centre on Saturday, March 10 from 2.30pm – 4.30pm.
