Hethersett bard George Beckford has gone into print again with his latest poetry compilation which spans his life and career of well over 80 years.

“More Pleasure” contains almost 200 poems covering every aspect of George's life from his work, family and personal life to his championing of environmental issues - something that won him the Norwich Evening News Champion of the Year award in 2007.

George is also a leading light in the Hethersett Environmental Action Team (HEAT) and chairman of the recently formed Hethersett Green Village Working Party. The poems were written in the past 10 years but many go back much further to George's memories from days in the services. There are also plenty of poems about Hethersett.

“I write poems for my own pleasure but hopefully, some are of interest to others. They may be inspired by just about any remark or incident. Many are directed to those in authority, or have direct influence on the public and these provide food for thought,” George says in his introduction.

George's latest anthology can be borrowed from Hethersett Library.
