Wymondham Nature Group launches its new season of indoor meetings and outdoor practical conservation sessions, with a talk by Anne Edwards which combines the two.

Next Thursday Anne will be talking about the conservation work she and her team of volunteers undertake in Norfolk Wildlife Trust's ancient woodland, Lower Wood at Ashwellthorpe, on Sunday afternoons in the autumn and winter months.

Anne said: “We had a very successful season last winter and Norfolk Wildlife Trust was pleased at how much coppicing and other work we achieved. Each year we are rewarded with increasing numbers of rare and attractive woodland plants which rely on a regular coppice rotation to survive; like early purple orchids, wood anemone, yellow archangel and twayblade (a locally rare orchid). And this year we were astonished at the hundreds of unusual herb Paris plants that emerged”.

Everyone is welcome to Anne Edwards' talk At the Cutting Edge: Conservation in Lower Wood, Ashwellthorpe on Thursday, September 10 at 7.30pm in the Town Green Centre, Wymondham, entrance £2 including refreshments.

Practical work in NWT Lower Wood, Ashwellthorpe starts on Sunday, September 27.

For information about how to join the team contact Anne Edwards on 01603 812309.
