A 15-year project to launch new hangar bays at Old Buckenham airfield is set to be complete in February.

Backed by a six-figure investment from the airfield's current owner, Geoffrey Lynch OBE, who bought the site in July, the hangars will provide space for around 20 aircraft.

Matt Wilkins, Airfield Manager: 'It was always going to be hard to beat the successes of 2013, but this is the best possible start. The airfield's reputation as being immaculately maintained and exceptionally friendly can only be enhanced by having the best quality hangarage in Norfolk.'

The project will be complete in February 2014 and is being undertaken by local contractors, Steel Build Masters. Other aspects of the work include a considerable increase in external tarmac parking as well as substantial ground works.

This finalises a project started over 15 years ago which stalled under previous ownership and will complete the main hangar block at the airfield, which already houses 25 aircraft.

Several spaces in the new hangar bays have already been reserved and interested aircraft owners are invited to make contact to view and potentially secure a position.
