Attleborough High School has become the first Norfolk school to be awarded specialist centre status for its outstanding use of an internet-based virtual learning environment.

More than 900 students are keying into the FrogTeacher resource which enables them to access information, learning materials, student profiles and e-mentoring in a safe and secure environment within the school and on their home computers 24 hours a day.

Teachers log on to the system daily and

have instant access to e-mail, the school calendar, teaching timetables and other resources.

The school also aims to widen access to parents so they can check on their children's work from home.

Head teacher Stuart Bailey said: “As a future focused school, we continually strive to provide the highest quality education in which all our students can thrive and we are very proud to be awarded FrogTeacher Specialist Centre status.

“Through our close partnership with Frog, we now have full control of our digital future and have transformed the school culture. Our educational service has greatly been

enhanced, and we could not envisage working without it.”

Gareth Davies, managing director of Frog which provides the interactive on-line digital learning system, said that to receive specialist centre status the school successfully completed a rigorous qualification procedure undertaken by an independent educational body.

It is the tenth school in the UK to achieve the distinction.
