Mayor visits the young democrats!

WYMONDHAM mayor Len Elston visited Robert Kett Junior school to present an honours board recording the chairmen of the school council. The school council wrote to Wymondham Town Council asking if a board could be provided for the school - similar to one which lists town council chairmen.

The school council wrote to Wymondham Town Council asking if a board could be provided for the school - similar to one which lists town council chairmen.

Mr Elston also announced that a grant bid for a sensory garden had been successful and that the town council was awarding £3000.

The garden will be used by the schoolchildren and by residents of nearby Robert Kett Court.

Mr Elston said: “It is pleasing to see democracy working in our schools and that the school council undertake such an active role.

Tomorrow's community leaders and councillors will come from today's children. They will be the lifeblood of the town and I am sure they will wish to maintain its historic importance and a place where people will want to live. I am also pleased that a sensory garden will be constructed using the funds raised, assisted by pledges of support from the parents. It will be asset to the school which can be proud of its achievements.”
