Attleborough mayor Vera Dale hosted a successful evening to raise money for her year-of- office youth project.
A ball with a casino theme, auction and raffle quickly
sold out, and a capacity audience chatted, laughed and danced
the night away to singing duo Touché.
Businesses including Aldercarr Hall, Center Parcs, Snetterton racing circuit, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Zuari, She Ladies' Fashions, the Mulberry Tree, Dunston Hall and the Griffin Hotel gave prizes, and the spread was created by the Griffin.
Mrs Dale "commandeered"
her entire family to create the décor.
Other donations from Crown Chicken, Ian Matthews, the London Tavern and Nationwide Building society have lifted the proceeds to £3,506.
Mrs Dale said: "This amazing amount has been raised due to the generosity of local people and businesses. Thank you all very much"
Her youth fund is aiming to
raise enough money to buy Ballwalls for Gaymer's Meadow and the recreation ground, and possibly provide youth shelters too.
One Ballwall has been installed in London Road using money from Grampian Foods, given via Overboard, and is being well used by youngsters already.
