Sarah Drew, 37, from Hingham, is hoping to volunteer in Uganda for the charity Dentaid in February 2019.

Mrs Drew will spend two weeks offering crucial support to those who need it most, in a country where life expectancy is in the early 50s.

She will be joined by nine other dentists, hygienists, nurses and therapists on the trip which will see the team travel the East African country and provide pop-up clinics in areas of medical deprivation.

The Dentaid volunteer team will help to provide basic pain relief dentistry, including treatments and oral health education.

In order to reach out to as many people as possible, it has been ensured that the clinic can be set up virtually anywhere, due to the volume of kit the team transports.

Mrs Drew has been a dental nurse for 20 years. She says she jumped at the opportunity to volunteer with Dentaid for a second time, after seeing first hand 'the amazing work that they do'.

She said: 'Dental care should be available for everyone around the world and this trip will see me helping more disadvantaged communities in Uganda, providing chair-side assistance as well oral health education.

'This will be a life-changing adventure for the patients that we see and for myself, also.

'It is something that I feel incredibly passionate about and would love your support, if you feel you are in a position to help.'

Mrs Drew needs to raise £2,100 to confirm her place.

She aims to do this through means of fundraising but says donations are vital to the cause.

Businesses already doing their bit by suggesting fundraising ideas.

She added: 'This will be a very challenging but rewarding adventure and your support would mean everything to me as well as all the people that I'll be able to help.'

Over the last 20 years, Dentaid has worked in more than 70 countries to end dental pain through treatment, training, education and equipment donations.
