History enthusiasts will be throwing open the doors of Wymondham Heritage Museum for the Heritage Open Days this month.

On Saturday, September 10 visitors will get free entry to the museum between 10am and 4pm and there will be two guided tours at 11am and 2pm.

The 18th century Wymondham Bridewell building - a former prison, police station and courthouse - has many displays about the history and heritage of Wymondham, including Kett’s Rebellion, the Great Fire of Wymondham and the Market Cross. New displays this year include the Wymondham College story, Lotus cars, Wymondham in the first world war, and the Town Green shops in yesteryear.

The museum has a tea room and courtyard garden. It is also open on September 8 and 9 when normal admission charges apply. A series of heritage walk leaflets are also available. To book a place on a tour, call on 01953 607494.
