'It was truly wonderful' - Youngster, 8, made honorary bin man

While many youngsters dream of becoming footballers, astronauts, singers or film stars, one youngster got to live his unusual ambition to became a bin man for the day.

Finley McBride, eight, from Attleborough was invited to Serco's depot after his mother, Isabella, posted on Breckland Council's social media about how much her son loves seeing the bin lorry and the cheery response he receives from the driver.

The council and Serco, who operate the waste lorries, invited him in to visit the bin lorry fleet and be an honorary bin man for the day.

The family made the trip to the fleet depot, in Dereham, Finley had a ride around the yard and met up with his favourite bin lorry crew.

Peter Barnes, contract manager for Serco, said: "It was truly wonderful to watch Finley check out the lorry, understand how it works and I hope he had a fun trip to see us and what we do."

Ms McBride said: "It was a fantastic early Christmas present for him."
