PLANS went on display this week to show people what the new stretch of the A11 between Barton Mills and Thetford will look like.

West Suffolk MP Richard Spring said: “After a 16-year battle to get a firm commitment for the dualling of the A11 between Fiveways roundabout and Thetford, I am overjoyed that the draft orders have now been published.

“This is a moment that has been a very long time coming. If there is no public inquiry then this timetable could be brought forward by about six months.”

The exhibition was at The Guildhall in Thetford yesterday.

In a separate development, a meeting has been called to discuss progress on getting a new Brandon bypass built. The meeting will involve MPs, landowners and district and county councillors. No date has yet been set.
