Not Quite Strictly Come Dancing is the title of an event planned at Wymondham to raise money for the town's famous abbey.

Ten local couples will be taking to the dance floor to battle it out on November 28 in a fun charity night based on the popular BBC programme,

Professional dance instructor Donna Poole is co-organising the event. She said they have already sold 200 tickets and hope to raise up to £3,000 to further restore the abbey and surrounding buildings.

“We have four judges, as per the programme, and we are privileged to have a gentleman who appeared on the original series, Come Dancing, in the 1950s.

“The couples taking part have either never danced before or are attending some of my classes. Whichever way, it doesn't matter too much as I am choreographing the routines which mainly are to be hilarious and to show the couple's personalities off.”

The evening will include entertainment, and local businesses are clubbing together to help make things go with a swing.
