A motorist has appeared in court charged with causing death by careless driving after a passenger in another car was killed in a crash.

Viajandamuje Kaaronda, 35, had been driving a vehicle which crashed on the B1077 at Brayes Lane, close to the junction of Carbrooke Road at Rocklands, near Attleborough on May 30 last year.

The crash involved a VW Up vehicle, being driven by Kaaronda, and a Mercedes C220.

The front seat passenger of the Mercedes was taken to hospital for treatment but his condition later worsened and he died in hospital on June 3 2021.

Kaaronda, from Newmarket, Suffolk, was subsequently charged with causing death by careless driving and an offence of causing death by careless driving while unlicensed.

He appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Tuesday (September 13) when a potential date of July 24 next year was set for a trial likely to last five days.

Kaaronda is expected to enter pleas to the charges at the next court hearing on December 16.
