BUDDING young artists from the 1st Hethersett Brownies brought an extra splash of colour to their local library by taking part in Marie Curie Cancer Care's national Paint Your Mini Pot Day.
BUDDING young artists from the 1st Hethersett Brownies brought an extra splash of colour to their local library by taking part in Marie Curie Cancer Care's national Paint Your Mini Pot Day.
They joined more than 281,000 children across the UK who were given a mini pot and daffodil bulb to plant and nurture last autumn to reflect the care that Marie Curie Nurses provide to terminally ill patients. The Brownies returned their daffodil pots, some of which had already flowered and some which were still flowering, and decorated the pots with a special decorated collar.
Brown Owl Carolyn Menin said: “The girls really enjoyed looking after their daffodil bulbs throughout the winter and have had a great time decorating their pots at the library. By taking part in this simple and fun activity, the whole group has been learning about the fantastic work of the Marie Curie Nurses.”
The Brownies returned to the library on Saturday for a craft and cake stall and raised £65.74.
Mini Pots of Care forms part of Marie Curie's Great Daffodil Appeal, the charity's flagship annual fundraising campaign which takes place throughout March and is supported by Yellow Pages. For further information, please visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/minipotsofcare
