The hunt is on for the perfect street artist to decorate a building at Banham Zoo.

The Zoological Society of East Anglia is running a competition to find an artist to create a new artwork decorating the zoo's new, as yet unnamed, learning and celebration area.

The area will be based in a room measuring 9m long and 3m wide and offering a blank canvas for an artwork that should have a theme centred on people getting closer connected to nature.

The area is located within the primate zone of the zoo adjacent to the habitat where the Gelada baboons live, and features large viewing windows. Gelada baboons in the wild are found only in the highlands of Ethiopia and Eritrea.

ZSEA says it will supply all materials required to complete the project to the value of up to £500.

Budding artists interested in making your mark at the zoo can apply by emailing martin.dupee@zsea.org enclosing the concept ideas and sketches of your proposed artwork. The competition closes on October 31.
