A popular attraction in Norfolk has been named one of the best trips in the world to transport people back in time.

The Mid-Norfolk Railway (MNR) has scooped a place on The Telegraph's list of the "20 best holidays to transport you back to the golden age of rail".

The railway runs between Dereham and Wymondham and is renowned for hauling 1950s carriages around the Norfolk countryside using classic examples of British locomotives and steam engines.

The MNR also hosts a range of events including its Polar Express at Christmas and Gin Train.

The railway has been operating a different route over the past year after a deterioration on the track at Crownthorpe Bridge near Wymondham.

Work on the track is set to finish this summer after a fundraising appeal raised more than £40,000.

This will allow the full journey to be able to run from the restored Victorian station in Dereham through to Wymondham.

Other journeys on the list included the Eurostar Snow train, the Eastern & Oriental Express and Deccan Odyssey in India.
