Plans for 29 affordable homes in a village best known for its telecommunications tower could be in jeopardy after the parish council voiced its opposition to the project.
An application from Crimson Development Homes seeks to build a mixture of one to four-bedroom properties on land west of Norwich Road in Tacolneston, near Wymondham.
Crimson, which is a part of the South Norfolk-based housing association Saffron, provides "homes and services to tenants, offering affordable homes for those in housing need and specialist homes for older and vulnerable adults".
But the development could be thwarted after Tacolneston Parish Council objected to it on the grounds that it would be "overbearing", increase traffic and pose "serious safety issues" relating to its position in the B1113.

Locals have also warned a limited public transport system in the area would push more drivers onto the B1113, causing a hazard for both villagers and those attending the nearby primary school.
However, early discussions between South Norfolk Council (SNC) and Crimson have highlighted a need for developments solely consisting of affordable housing.
A planning statement submitted to the authority features a note from officers that reads: "The recently undertaken housing needs survey has demonstrated a local need for an affordable housing development of the scale and mix proposed."
SNC intends to make a decision on the plans by November 6.
