A talking newspaper is going digital after receiving two donations from local businesses.

The Wymondham and Attleborough Talking Newspaper was formed 11 years ago and provides a vital service for more than 60 blind and partially sighted people.

The service is now set to switch from cassettes to digital memory sticks after receiving 200 from Rosedale Funeral Home in Attleborough and 265 from Waitrose supermarket in Wymondham.

Pat Crawford, chairwoman of the talking paper, said the switchover, which will take place on May 29 followed a consultation with their listeners.

'We originally looked into the idea of using CDs but decided memory sticks were preferable. This new equipment will improve the production quality, which is already of a particularly high standard,' she said.

The voluntary organisation, which has 50 volunteers, will provide listeners with boom boxes to play their memory sticks.
