A south Norfolk airfield is looking forward to renewing old friendships in the summer when its hosts a prestigious international gliding event.

The International Vintage Glider Rally has only been held in the UK on three occasions in its almost 40 year history, but will be making a return to the Tibenham airfield at the end of July.

The 38th vintage glider event at the former US Air Force second world war airbase comes after the Norfolk Gliding Club hosted the rally ten years ago.

Registration for the festival opened this week, which is expected to attract around 90 vintage gliders from across the world that were made between the 1920s to 60s.

Evening events also include 'dwile flonking', welly wanging, morris dancing, and music from the South Norfolk Youth Swing Band at the rally between July 31 and August 8.

The international event, which will be open to the public, comes after the Norfolk Gliding Club celebrated is 50th anniversary last year.
