Police have announced a crackdown on illegal parking in the centre of Wymondham.
Parking has become an issue within the town especially with drivers exceeding the restricted time limits in the designated bays as this prevents a turnover of visitors using local shops and causes congestion. And officers will be issuing £30 parking fines to motorists who flout the rules.
Sgt Nigel Longlands, of Wymondham police, said: “We would like drivers to take more responsibility when parking in the town centre and officers will be using enforcement measures towards those drivers who park inconsiderately.”
Police will be targeting those who park illegally where parking or waiting is restricted. The aim is to encourage sensible and safe parking, reduce congestion, make the roads safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians, allow buses to operate more effectively and improve the environment.
