Archant

Wymondham turned in an impressive display in the set-piece, only for the home side to run away with the match in the closing stages.

Less than 30 seconds in, an attempted clearance was charged down and the hosts took the lead.

The Red and Blacks’ scrum was dominating the Woodbridge pack but it was the home side who took advantage of poor defence to score a second try to make it 12-0 at half-time.

Strong runs from new Welsh centre Jamie Hunter helped push back the home defence and he made a break to reduce the deficit before Woodbridge scored under the posts to make it 19-7.

Wymondham hit back as quick ball released prop Matt Goodwin to pass out to Josh Cousins on the wing who got caught but managed to pop inside to Josh Wright for a score.

There was now just seven points in it but Woodbridge immediately responded with two tries and added a further couple of scores to complete the scoring.
