Attleborough got their reward for an excellent performance as they deservedly won a seven-goal thriller at Loddon.

The visitors started well and went a goal up through a cool finish from Stevie Wright.

Boro were dictating the game and should have increased their lead but all of a sudden they took their foot off the pedal and were punished three times in the space of 10 minutes.

Loddon are a big team and Boro buckled under three set-pieces, a corner, throw-in and free kick, with Matthew Ayre scoring twice and Jake Rose also on target.

The team talk at half-time was about Boro getting back to how they can play and stop giving the ball away, especially in the final third. There was also a change in formation, with a return to 4-4-2.

The visitors looked a different team from that moment and a minute after the restart the ball was played across the area by Kieran Brown for Alastair Beales to apply a neat finish.

The equaliser wasn’t long in coming either. Brad Rivett played the ball from the left across the face of goal and it fell to Brown who stroked it home.

Loddon were not giving Boro any trouble, but the visitors still had to be aware of their long ball tactics as they had already succumbed three times in the first half.

Boro had a five-minute blip when they let Loddon put pressure on but nothing came of it and gradually they took hold of the game once more.

The winning goal came when Wright and Jack Flynn linked up well in the box, with Flynn finishing neatly into the bottom corner.

Boro were now in total control and if hadn’t been for the Loddon keeper they would have added more goals. At half-time it looked beyond Boro to pull it back, but there was a great response from all the players as they stayed on course for a top six finish in Division One of the Anglian Combination.

On Saturday Attleborough play their penultimate game of the season when they host a Dersingham side who need a point to be sure of avoiding the drop.

Attleborough Town: Evernett, Snowling, Brown, Smith, Beales, Lawrence, Venables, Mann, Rivett, Wrighty, Flynn. Subs: Dawes, Payne.

Wymondham Town suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat at Dersingham at the weekend. They are without a game on Saturday.
