Scole are frustrated as battling Attleborough make their point

Scole welcomed a depleted Attleborough Town side to Ransome Avenue, who came into the game on the back of a shock defeat to the division’s bottom side Cromer Town.

Scole were expecting a reaction from Attleborough and it was no surprise they got one.

Scole started the brighter of the two sides and could have gone in front when a good cross from James Harrison found the head of Bradley Hunt who guided his header towards the corner, only to be denied by the Attleborough keeper who pulled off a good save.

In truth the game lacked any real quality, with both teams huffing and puffing, but on to many occasions Scole’s final ball let them down when they got in dangerous positions.

Scole’s only other attempt in the first half was another Hunt header which went over crossbar. Attleborough, who were working manfully ,didn’t muster a single shot on target in the opening 45 minutes.

Scole came out for second half expecting more of the same and this is exactly what they got. Attleborough frustrated the home side and with 25 minutes to go scored with their only shot on target on the day when left winger Matty Carr was given too much time and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Scole now introduced Coleman and Manning and it was the former who started to cause problems. With 15 minutes to go the hosts drew level when Manning held off his man and played the ball into Harrison who fired a low shot into the corner.

The final 15 minutes were played out with Scole desperately searching for the winner but they were unable to break down a stubborn side. In truth Scole didn’t deserve the win and credit to Attleborough who travelled with just 11 players and deserved a point.

Results elsewhere went for Scole and the point leaves them three points off the promotion places with 12 games to go, so they still have a great chance. However they will have to perform much better in games coming up, starting on Saturday with a home game against lowly Loddon United.

In Division Five Scole Reserves played probably their best football of the season to win 8-3 at Thetford Rovers Reserves. Tom Green and Harry Rolingson both notched hat-tricks while Jordan Walters and Harry Browne got the other two.
