Wymondham school praised for focus on students’ emotional wellbeing

A Wymondham school has been recognised for its work supporting students’ emotional wellbeing.

Wymondham College has been given the AcSEED accreditation for its work in the area, which includes hiring a wellbeing manager, mental health practitioner and range of student support staff.

The AcSEED assessment team praised the school’s comprehensive support, work with organisations and training for staff, students and parents.

Dan Browning, head of school, said the college took the wellbeing of its community “extremely seriously”, and said he was “very proud” of colleagues in its wellbeing service, including Rachael Hill, its wellbeing manager.

On World Mental Health Day earlier this month, the school held an event which included stands on nurture and nature, tips for feeling good and decorating happy cookies.

They showed pupils a series of short films made by Heads Together charity promoting positive mental health.
