A community book store has been awarded a grant that will allow it to better reach the community.
Kett’s Bookshop has received a grant of £2,000 from book publisher HarperCollins.
The grant is being used to develop off-site book fairs, update the store’s website and up-date branding.
The store has also begun working with Claire Knight from the Hare and Moon Gallery at Alby to create a set of images that represent what lies within a good book.
Book shop manager and director Tracy Kenny said: “HarperCollins has really recognised that independent bookshops are really in touch with readers, so they’ve opened up a conversation with us, which we’re both benefiting from. We’re only a little 20ft bookshop in Wymondham, run by volunteers, but they’ve been to visit, and they’ve even welcomed us to their garden party at the V&A in London. Their investment in us is a real recognition that we’re professionals, doing something special.”
“The shop is a real part of the community which you don’t get online. We can talk to customers and really get to know them.”
