People in Wymondham are being invited to see detailed plans for a new supermarket in the town.

It has been confirmed that a new Morrisons store will be built in Postmill Close, off Norwich Road.

The store is set to be “medium-sized” and will create about 200 new jobs.

Planning permission for a new supermarket at the junction of Postmill Close and Norwich Road was granted by South Norfolk Council at a special meeting in November last year.

Before development of the site commences, Morrisons proposes to make some minor amendments to the approved scheme, including changes to the car park and improvements to the overall appearance of the site frontage facing Norwich Road.

Morrisons development executive Michael van den Berg, said: “With Morrisons now signed up, residents of Wymondham are one step closer to getting the shopping choice they so badly need.

“The site benefits from retail planning consent and we want to make some minor improvements to the layout of the car park for the benefit of our customers.

“We believe our unique offer of high quality, fresh food at great prices is what makes us stand out against our competitors and we are pleased to invite local residents to find out more about our new store. Everyone is welcome.”

People are being invited to a public information event to view the plans and proposed amendments at Wymondham Central Hall on Friday, July 12, from 2.30pm until 7.30pm.

The full details, including plans and computer-generated images, will be on display and representatives from the project team will be on hand to answer questions.
