More than 50 new homes could be built in a South Norfolk village.

Developer Glavenhill has applied to site 54 new properties at Upper Stoke, near Poringland.

The application would see a bungalow demolished to create access to land behind it on the south side of Poringland Road.

It is the latest in a host of developments announced around Poringland. Last year plans to build 150 homes off Burgate Lane, were deemed “unsatisfactory” and “unprofessional” by Poringland parish and South Norfolk councillor, John Overton.

Speaking in November last year Mr Overton said: “The residents have had enough. Poringland is currently dealing with 1,100 homes and the infrastructure is just being swallowed.”

Upper Stoke, around five miles south of Norwich, consists of around 700 homes with a population of less than 2,000. If this application is approved this would see a housing increase of 8pc.
