A cycling event which saw more than 1,000 riders take to the streets of a Norfolk market town has hopefully raised more than £3,000 for charity.

The second Diss Cyclathon took place on Sunday, July 2 following last year’s inaugural event, which raised £1,700 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

There were a variety of routes ranging from five to 100 miles, with Diss-based company Midwich being the headline sponsor and Anglian Co-Op, Tudor Bakehouse, Tesco and Morrison’s helping to suply feed stations.

Maggett Cycles also sponsored the medals, while children’s entertainers and musicians performed throughout the day.

“Fantastic, terrific, wonderful - just a few of the things people are saying about the second Diss Cyclathon,” a letter from the organising team said.

“But it is the amazing support that we get from the local community of Diss and the surrounding area that makes it all possible.”
